From Chaos to Clarity: Why I Built Intune Flow

As someone who does extensive Microsoft Intune consulting in large enterprise environments, I always face the exact same hurdle on day one of a new engagement. I log into a new environment and ask myself: Where do I start? How can I grasp this Tenant from a single point of view and quickly understand exactly what I am dealing with?

The environment just "runs." It often feels like the messy, undocumented days of legacy Active Directory all over again, just shifted to the cloud.

The "What If" Moment

Out of sheer frustration and the desire to provide better, faster insights, I reached a breaking point. I started asking myself: What if there was a way I could visually trace every single object in Intune?

That simple idea consumed me. After weeks of piecing thoughts together, I started working on a rough draft. It began with literal pen and paper, sketching out how policies, groups, and devices actually connect. Then, I moved to draw.io, trying to map out the logic. It’s not just a high-level overview. When you spot a configuration profile or an Autopilot deployment profile that looks suspicious, you don't need to jump back into the Microsoft Endpoint Manager portal. You can click on the node directly in Intune Flow to open the Deep Settings Drawer, which pulls the exact configurations and properties of that object in real-time.
